BRIEF DETAILS OF PAST & ON-GOING TURNKEY PROJECTS

Preparation of a Geographic Information System with a customised cartographic database for Dhom Irrigation Division of Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (Govt. of Maharashtra Undertaking).

A Geographic Information System for a ayacut of 5,000 Ha. irrigated by the Right Branch Canal has recently been completed in Satara. This involved exhaustive mapping of village maps with cadastral plots, alignment of canals, details and structures and a very large database of information which besides engineering and hydraulic parameters, also included ownership records, cropping pattern, land holdings etc., that were spatially integrated. The software was customized to suit the requirements of the department for easy access of information and decisions making. This work was the first of its kind undertaken by the Irrigation Department of Govt. of Maharashtra.

Mumbai - Pune Expressway - Engineering survey and topographic summary of alignment with computerised outputs and information retrieval of alignments and road sections using a GIS (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation).

MSRDC had entrusted VISIONLABS in the detailed topographic and engineering survey of the proposed Mumbai - Pune Expressway using total station and electronic digital levels and for the road alignment, Longitudinal section and road cross-section. The field measurements had to be translated into computerised outputs showing alignments with details of every 1 km section, Longitudinal Section for the same interval and cross-section details at every 20 metres of the section across the proposed road width of 90 metres. The above information both textual and graphical will now be linked to VISION Cartographer for geographic information retrieval of the data.

R & B, National Highways, Govt. of A.P.

A pilot project for road networks in Nellore district was undertaken for the Engineer-in-Chief, National Highways. The work related to preparation of detailed village and road maps of selected mandals including national highways, state highways, major district roads and also rural ZPP roads. A large pavement management system database of over 75 attributes was fed in for 200m sections of the roads. The data pertained to road conditions, deterioration, engineering parameters and maintenance monitoring. A customised querying system was designed for maintenance prioritization, work status monitoring etc.

Land acquisition for Outer Ring Road project of Hyderabad Expressway

Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) under BOT privatisation scheme proposes to undertake construction of expressway of approx. 200 kms connecting all the National Highway passing through the city. Based on the initial alignments fixed by their consultants, VISIONLABS was assigned the task of identifying the properties (Revenue S.Nos) affected by the proposed expressway so that a draft DN and DD could be prepared by HUDA for acquisition and for peg marking on the ground. The above task of identification has been completed using VISION Cartographer and VISION Surveyor.

Development of link roads for Department of Marketing, Govt. of A.P.

A pilot project for preparation of a Cartographic database of link roads for Warangal AMC (Warangal Dt.) were successfully completed. This involved digitization of all roads and villages under AMC (Agriculture Market Committee) and correlating population, socio-economic status and village production with the availability of roads to market yard and laying of new link roads. The system also had facility to identify types of roads and also for monitoring the different road works and their completion. It is now proposed to extent this work to 30 more Agriculture Market Committee in the State.

Panchayat Raj Department, Govt. of A.P.

Various GIS works relating to Nandyal Rural Water Supply Project, Flood Damage Assessment, Rural sanitation etc. were carried out for the Panchayat Raj department between February to October '95. The works were used for project status monitoring and for preparing reports for Central and State Government officials.

Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Development Corporation, Govt. of A.P.

A pilot project was completed for Lift Irrigation Scheme in Vadrapalli and Mallavaram villages of Munagapaka Mandal in Visakhapatnam district. This was a integrated solution consisting of modules to generate contour plots from field survey data, calculate cross sections, estimate slopes for piping and water distribution networks etc. All these were integrated with the Geographical Information System - VISION Cartographer, so that various levels of querying could be done. Additional modules for cost estimation, Pert and Gant charts and optimisation of costs will be developed as a total solution for this department. Procurement of this software with turnkey solution is now at an advance stage.

Mines and Geology, Govt. of A.P.

A pilot project for the creation of a Cartographic database and a Geographical Information System for the department of Mines and Geology was undertaken in Malkapur village of Tandur Mandal, Vikarabad district. The GIS turnkey solution specially customised for this department helped not only to identify leased and mining areas, processing of applications but also a scientific module was created ore reserves of different work in this area will be undertaken on receiving the turnkey contract which is at an advanced stage.

Preparation of base map for entire State of Tripura and GIS

This work has been recently awarded which requires the base map of Tripura State to be prepared along with hierarchical administrative boundaries, important land features and infrastructures, location and geodetic control points, location of habitations, identify geodetic control points and latitude & longitude in spherical co-ordinate. Further up gradation of the work will be done by the different departments using VISION Cartographer and this base map.

Location survey for construction of new B.G. Line from Krishna to Devarakadra stations (South Central Railway)

This work involves field survey for the alignment of the rail track and the use of the Geographic Information System for the purposes of land acquisition and attaching information of important parameters spatially in the final alignment.

Preparation of a Geographic Information System for Hyderabad city

This work has been awarded by the Collector, Hyderabad Dist. for preparation of an authentic base map of Hyderabad city from field sheets. Record of Rights as available will be attached to the properties and further extension of work will be undertaken depending on the requirements of the different State Govt. departments. This work would also help to resolve different disputes of properties in the city in view of the surveys undertaken earlier. For this purpose, overlaying of maps would be done to help the Survey Settlement and Land Records offices.

Preparation of land use maps for Shore Area Development Authority

About 120 map sheets will be digitised and mosaiced bringing features of land use as available from NRSA map sheets for the entire coast of Andhra Pradesh. These map sheets would then be overlaid on the Survey of India toposheets for identifying areas of concern especially pollution and environment. Updation, authentication and computerisation of railway land plans between Mumbai CST and Mulund stations and preparation of a Land Information System Central Railway has recently awarded us the contract for updation of the railway land plans, computerising them and getting these plans authenticated by the local State Land Records department Besides these physical survey has to be made to demarcating the boundaries of the railway land and picking-up of all details of important structures such as ROBs, RUBs, platforms workshops, etc., which is to be integrated into the railway plan so that such details could be queried through a Land Information System. This prestigious work is the first of its kind undertaken by Indian Railways in its efforts towards modernisation of railway land plans.
